The Feminist Art Project at College Art Association 2007
The panels, organized by the late internationally-renowned feminist critic Arlene Raven and Anne Swartz of the Savannah College of Art and Design, are free and open to the public. 9-10 am: “Are We There Yet? The Status and Impact of Second-and Third-Wave Feminism, Women’s Art, the Women’s Art Movement, and ‘Feminist Art,’” chaired by Anne Swartz, Savannah College of Art and Design.
10:10-11:10 am: “Feminism, Women, and the Museum,” chaired by Elizabeth Mansfield, University of the South.
11:40 am-12:40 pm: “Re-gendering Public Practice," Suzanne Lacy, Chair MFA Public Practices, Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. A conversation between Suzanne Lacy and Martha Rosler, Rutgers University, moderated by Nato Thompson, Creative Time.
12:50-1:50 pm: “Back to the Front,” chaired by Helena Reckitt, independent critic and curator.2-3 pm: “Occupying Our Hearts: Performing Self-Transformation through Feminist Art,” chaired by Joanna Frueh, University of Nevada, Reno.
3:10-4:10 pm: “‘Life of the Mind, Life of the Market’: A Reevaluation of the Contribution of Theory to Feminist Art from 1980 to 2006,” chaired by Mira Schor, Parsons The New School for Design.
4:20-5:20 pm: “American Art and Sexual Trauma,” chaired by Vivien Green Fryd, Vanderbilt University.

The Women's Caucus for Art Lifetime Achievement Awards and the CAA Committee on Women in the Arts Recognition Awards will be presented at a co-hosted event on Saturday, February 17, 2007, 6:00-7:00 PM (reception) and 7:00-9:00 PM (awards ceremony), in the Trianon Ballroom at the Hilton New York. The WCA awards recognize Barbara Chase-Riboud, Wanda Corn, Buffie Johnson, Lucy Lippard, and Elizabeth Murray, and the WCA President's Award goes to Connie Butler. The CWA awards honor Judith K. In addition to the TFAP panels and awards, galleries and museums are hosting special exhibitions and receptions during CAA.
Thursday, February 15: Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion Museum, 1 West 4th Street, New York, NY, 10012-1186 (between Broadway and Mercer); 5-7:30 p.m. Feminist Art Project and College Art Association members' reception for the exhibition, “Judy Chicago: Jewish Identity,” co-curated by Gail Levin and Laura Kruger.
Thursday, February 15: A.I.R. Gallery, 511West 25th Street (between 10th and 11th) from 5-7:30 p.m with an exhibition of new work by Daria Dorosh and a group show of gallery artists curated by Dena Muller.
Friday, February 16: The Ceres Gallery, 547 West 27th Street (between 10th and 11th) will be Friday, February 16 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. in conjunction with “Agents of CHANGE: Women, Art, and Intellect,” curated by Leslie King-Hammond.
