The Susquehanna Art Museum is pleased to present its 2007-08 exhibition Art Tells a Story: The Narrative in Art on its award-winning VanGo! Museum on Wheels. Artists included in the 2007-08 exhibition: Carol Cole, Susan Read Cronin, Carlos Diaz, Rob Evans, Brian Floca, Janet Goldner, Miles Halpern, DeLoss McGraw, Native American Indian Tribes, Coke Wisdom O'Neal, Florence Putterman, Faith Ringgold, Nora Sturges, Leah Tinari, Teri Traner. Included in the exhibition is Janet Goldner's steel book sculpture, They Held On 2. This hinged steel book was inspired by a trip in South Africa during the 1994 elections. "The cover" of the book shows a map of South Africa & points out places I visited in South Africa. The imagery includes silhouettes of human figures drawn onto the "pages" & the new South African flag. The text, also drawn on the steel, comes from my writings during the trip about that joyous but uncertain moment of transition. "They held on for as long as they could and then threw the mess they'd made to the ones they had oppressed. 'Here you clean up the mess.'"
