2015 TFAP@CAA Day of Panels Coordinators:
damali abrams, artist; Jenn Dierdorf, artist; Kathleen Wentrack, Professor of Art History, The City University of New York, Queensborough

The Feminist Art Project (TFAP) is a collaborative national initiative recognizing the aesthetic, intellectual and political impact of women on the visual arts, art history, and art practice. On February 14, 2015, TFAP host a day of panels and performances at The Museum of Arts & Design that is free and open to the public. We are seeking proposals, presentations, and/or performances that explore collaboration and collectivity.
Collaborative working methodologies and women's collectives have been crucial to feminist art practice since at least the 1970s. As feminist practice continues to evolve, collaboration and collectivity continue to provide an alternative to the patriarchal ideal of individualism. This day of panels will explore both a communal approach to working in a variety of media and group support structures for women artists both historical and present day.

Topics could include, but are not limited to:
Structure of collectives
Long-term collaborative art projects
Collaborative work in studio practice or performance
Collectives as a creative business model
Beyond art-making - community activism as artistic collaboration
Identity & collaboration - how race, gender, sexuality, and class affect working dynamics
Collaboration in arts education
Curatorial collaboration

To submit a proposal, please email a CV and a 300-word abstract in pdf format by
