Slightly in advance of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Women Make Movies, co-founder, Ariel Dougherty, SLC '69, will show her film SWEET BANANAS (30m, 1973) and discuss the origins of this feminist film organization. She will describe WMM's role in the context of its start and today, almost fifty years later. Expanding on feminist film theory she will also point to needs in media policy that might stem the slow progress women have made in the media industry and go beyond challenges of the #MeToo movement.
