Description

Rubbings and tracings are probably the oldest and most primitive forms of printing, yet they capture the “essence” or “spirit” of the object in a way that nothing else can. In this workshop we will make rubbings and tracings of plants, trees, tables, planks, stones, ourselves and many other things. The images, patterns, and marks that develop from these techniques will become part of our personal vocabulary, they can stand as the subject of a complete work or as a component in collages, drawings and paintings. Please bring hard graphite sticks or oil pastels, other materials that might make good rubbings or tracings and ideas to begin a new series of work.
